The Cards' winning streak ends, but there is hope on offense
Still 2-1 in their last 3 though
Louisville’s winning streak lasted 2 games, and their streak of playing well lasted just 1 game (against WKU). Louisville is now 2-10 and 1-11 against the spread, meaning that even the sports betting powers that be can’t pinpoint just how bad Louisville is going to be. As one subscriber put it on Twitter, the best part of Louisville’s season is driving to Southern Indiana to bet against them.
The flurry of offense that subdued Western Kentucky looked like a graceful pivot, but was followed by a clumsy stumble back into sub-40% shooting. Even the one area that had been a strength (defensive rebounding) has collapsed, as Louisville now hands out extra shots like a bar manager at close on their last night before moving to a new town.
There is a glimmer of hope in the last few games, however. The Cards have the capability to put out a lineup that can utilize spacing, shooting, and some modern principles of effective offense in order to be competitive. It took a while, but I think there’s a path for the Cards to have a punchers chance of winning some conference games.
