How a lack of depth shows up for UofL
The results are falling off when the top of the roster isn't involved
Everyone knew in the offseason that Louisville had too few guards. Anyone who claimed that wouldn’t be a problem was very optimistic. Whether the issue was misevaluation of the current roster, recruiting/transfer misses, or a purposeful decision to leave scholarships open for sacrifice to IARP sanctions doesn’t really matter. It has already shown up as a major factor that limits the ceiling for this edition of the Cardinals.
A pattern is already evident in the data from the first two Louisville games this season. When the Cards have their top-end players in the game, they are competent and respectable. When they don’t, offensive creation falls apart and UofL starts falling behind. In this edition of Hoops Insight, I’ll use the data to explain what’s happening and how the staff needs to re-evaluate some of their offensive structure.
